MSC Giz Cast Episode 7-Feisty Fawn

  • In this episode we are going to discuss the release of the new version of Ubuntu called Feisty Fawn. It was released on April 19th and looks to be a solid version of Ubuntu. I have only installed it on a laptop and also my personal computer but so far I am very pleased with the OS.
  • All things went well and the install took less then a hour on the laptop, and even faster on the desktop.
  • Some of the features include a better wireless support, which was evident on the laptop install, and also easier video and audio codec installs. Instead of having to search for the missing codecs, a window pops up and asks if you would like to search for the missing codecs. Once they are found you are told that they are restricted and if you would like to continue with the install. This how Ubuntu gets around the proprietary codecs that are not installed by default due to legal reasons.
